Counseling is both an honor and a privilege—an opportunity to share space with clients as we begin a journey of self-discovery. Together, we uncover value-based inner strengths that empower healing, resilience, and progress toward a fulfilling life. I provide a safe, nonjudgmental environment where we work through life’s challenges and move toward your personal goals.
My therapeutic approach is multi-modal, drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). I integrate mindfulness and positive psychology practices like hope, encouragement, and gratitude. Clients will find a collaborative, team-based experience where victories are celebrated along the way.
I’m a licensed mental health counselor with a master’s in counseling from Liberty University and a Master of Divinity from Andrews University. I’m currently pursuing a Ph.D. in developmental psychology, with a focus on attachment and developmental trauma disorder.
Before entering the counseling field, I served as a pastor for 17 years, working closely with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds. I’m trained in ACT and IFS and certified as a Clinical Trauma Specialist (CCTS-I). As a U.S. Army veteran, I also understand the unique needs of veterans and their families.
My greatest joy is my family. I love spending time with my wife of 30 years and our three adult children.
I’m passionate about helping people pivot from their current mental health struggles by building inner strength, motivation, and resilience—empowering them to live fuller, more emotionally healthy lives with purpose, confidence, and lasting well-being.
My approach centers on building a strong therapeutic relationship through empathetic listening and genuine connection. I take time to understand your needs, then develop value-based care that equips you with practical tools to move forward toward your life goals.
My commitment is to provide a safe, supportive space where every step of your journey is met with compassion, clarity, and evidence-based tools—empowering you to grow, heal, and thrive emotionally and mentally.
I work with clients aged 8 to 65, offering support tailored to each stage of life. Whether it's helping children navigate big emotions, guiding teens through transitions, or supporting adults facing life’s challenges, I provide compassionate care across the lifespan.
I provide premarital and marriage counseling to help couples strengthen their connection, improve communication, and build a solid foundation for a lasting partnership. Whether you're preparing for marriage or navigating challenges, I'm here to support your journey together.
I support families navigating life transitions, blending households, and strengthening communication. Through compassionate guidance, I help families build understanding, resolve conflict, and create healthier connections during times of change.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps you accept difficult thoughts and feelings rather than fighting them. By clarifying your values and committing to meaningful actions, ACT empowers you to live a fuller, more intentional life—even in the presence of emotional pain.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a therapeutic approach that helps you explore and understand the different “parts” of yourself—like emotions, beliefs, or roles. By connecting with your core self, IFS promotes healing, balance, and inner harmony, allowing you to lead with clarity and compassion.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, goal-oriented approach that helps you identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors. By developing healthier ways of thinking, CBT empowers you to manage stress, improve mood, and build lasting emotional resilience.
The Gottman Method is a research-based approach to couples therapy that focuses on building love, respect, and communication. It helps partners manage conflict, deepen connection, and create shared meaning using practical tools rooted in decades of relationship science.
Mindfulness and meditation are practices that help you stay present, reduce stress, and improve emotional well-being. By focusing your attention and calming your mind, you can gain clarity, increase self-awareness, and respond to life’s challenges with greater balance and intention.
Christian counseling integrates psychological principles with faith-based guidance to support emotional, relational, and spiritual growth. Grounded in biblical truth, it offers a compassionate space to explore life’s challenges while deepening your connection with God.
Anxiety disorders involve persistent and overwhelming feelings of worry, fear, or nervousness that can interfere with daily life. These may include generalized anxiety disorder, characterized by chronic worry across many areas of life; panic disorder, which involves sudden and intense episodes of fear or discomfort; social anxiety, marked by fear of judgment or embarrassment in social situations; and specific phobias, where certain objects or situations trigger excessive fear. Treatment focuses on helping individuals understand and manage their anxiety through practical tools, emotional support, and evidence-based strategies.
Depressive disorders include conditions such as major depression, persistent depressive disorder (Dysthymia), and postpartum depression. Ongoing feelings of sadness, hopelessness, low energy, and a loss of interest in daily activities characterize these disorders. Therapy helps individuals understand the roots of their depression, develop healthy coping strategies, and build motivation and resilience to restore emotional balance and improve quality of life.
Trauma and PTSD-related disorders involve emotional and psychological responses to deeply distressing or disturbing experiences. This can include Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Complex PTSD (C-PTSD), childhood trauma, and unresolved grief or loss. Individuals may experience flashbacks, heightened anxiety, emotional numbness, or difficulty trusting others. Counseling provides a safe and supportive space to process these experiences, build coping strategies, and work toward healing and emotional stability.
Stress management in counseling focuses on helping individuals navigate overwhelming pressures related to work, school, relationships, or major life changes. Therapy provides tools to recognize stress triggers, build healthy coping strategies, and restore emotional balance. Whether you're experiencing burnout, difficulty adjusting to new circumstances, or struggling to maintain daily functioning, counseling offers a supportive space to regain control, improve resilience, and foster overall well-being.
Relationship challenges often stem from communication breakdowns, unresolved conflicts, or life transitions that put strain on connections. Counseling can help individuals, couples, and families navigate issues such as marital tension, family conflict, and separation or divorce. Through guided support, clients learn healthier ways to communicate, rebuild trust, and strengthen their emotional bonds—leading to more fulfilling and resilient relationships.
The self-esteem & identity area of counseling focuses on helping individuals build a healthier sense of self-worth and confidence. Therapy provides a supportive space to explore personal identity, clarify values, and address feelings of inadequacy or self-doubt. Whether you're struggling with low self-esteem, navigating life transitions, or seeking greater purpose and meaning, this work aims to foster self-acceptance, resilience, and a stronger, more authentic connection to who you are.
Anger management counseling focuses on helping individuals understand the roots of their anger, recognize triggers, and develop healthy ways to express and cope with intense emotions. Through evidence-based strategies and emotional awareness techniques, clients learn to manage reactions, improve communication, and reduce the impact of anger on relationships and daily life.
Military and veteran challenges often involve unique stressors that can impact mental health and relationships. Common challenges include service-related trauma, PTSD, difficulty reintegrating into civilian life, and the emotional toll of deployment on both the individual and their family. Counseling provides a supportive space to process these experiences, build resilience, and develop tools for healthy adjustment and emotional well-being.
